So why do I love Judy Garland? Well, she was a pretty good actress, especially given the right material, but let’s face it the real reason anyone loves Judy is because of the wonderful songs she sung!
That rich soulful voice could send shivers down your spine, could make you laugh, smile, sigh and weep buckets. From the wide-eyed wonder of her signature tune Over the Rainbow in The Wizard of Oz, to the sweet but never sickly seasonal sentiment of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in Meet Me in St Louis, to the hilarious spring fever of A Couple of Swells in Easter Parade, and the heart-breaking poignancy of The Man That Got Away in A Star Is Born… Judy had a voice for all seasons and knew how to belt out a tune with heart and soul and feeling.
But hey, you don’t have to take my word for it…. Take it away Judy!
